Currently, many types of flooring are used: carpet, sparkling setting parquet, linoleum and laminate. Each of them is good in its own way and deserves close attention, but I want to say a few words about the laminate. For the first time it began to be used in Sweden several decades ago, now it has become popular with us. This material consists of four layers: the protective upper, decorative, basic and stabilizing lower. The upper layer of the laminate protects against different mechanical influences, from sunlight and moisture, has increased strength and resistance to mechanical and chemical influences. The second layer consists of specialized paper of various shades, giving the floor an attractive look. The main coating is an ecologically safe wood -fingering plate. Thanks to it, heat is perfectly preserved, the strength and moisture resistance of the floor is ensured. The fourth layer serves as the so -called “cover”. It is impregnated with special resins and protects the coating from deformation. If the laminate is of high quality, then it can last about 25 years. This material is produced in the form of sheets with a thickness of 7-12 mm, with a length of 85 – 138 cm and a width of 9, 5 – 40 cm.
It needs to be laid on a solid even surface – it can be a cement screed or ceramic tile, on which a layer of polyethylene film is laid as a steam tank that protects against dampness, which goes from screed and corrugated cardboard or polyurethane foam for soundproofing. There are three methods of fastening: diagonally perpendicular to the location of the windows or parallel to it. The modern laminate has a locking system, so laying it is quite simple. It is very easy to care for him. It does not need to be varnished or polished, it does not burn out. The spots that appear can easily be removed with acetone. Another advantage is that bacteria do not accumulate on the surface.
