Asbest: what is it, the advantages of application

Thanks to its chemical and physical properties, Asbest has established itself well in construction. Due to the fact that this mineral has high strength, very low thermal conductivity and almost absolute chemical resistance, slate, fireproof and waterproof pipes, plates and even chimneys are produced from it, as well as special materials for thermal insulation of yellow chimney exits. Of course, asbestos are less and less used as water pipes, but when sewage in a private house, when laying drainage of wastewater to the system of cleaning asbestos -cement pipes, it is difficult to find an analogue of resistance to an aggressive environment, both outside the pipe and in the pipe itself. Asbest does not decompose, persisting in the most stringent conditions for decades, but it is able to evaporate, since the mineral fibers can be less than 10 μm and act as an aerosol.

In the United States, the use of asbestos is limited due to the danger of pollution of the lungs when inhaled, however, according to the World Health Organization, the maximum concentration of asbestos has not been identified and its role in the development of some diseases is still in question. Asbest in construction has been used for a long time and there is no reason to consider it dangerous for human health.
